Accuracy depends on a good calibration and a sharp, flat photo. Every counted thread is marked on the photo, so you can check any result yourself and recount a chosen area if needed.
Almost all woven fabrics: plain, twill and denim, satin and sateen (including polyester satin), checks and stripes, and slubby or handloom fabrics. Knitted fabrics are coming in an upcoming upgrade, measured in wales per inch (WPI) and courses per inch (CPI).
Yes. Polyester satin is one of the hardest fabrics to count by eye, because long glossy floats hide the interlacings. A dedicated satin method reads the satin weave itself, then counts and marks every end and pick.
During a one-time set-up, the app photographs our printed chessboard sheet to measure your camera's lens distortion and to learn how its focus relates to distance. After that it corrects the distortion in every photo and works out how far away the fabric is, so counts are per true inch and GSM areas are true square centimetres. Calibration files for popular phones will also be available in the app.
For most samples, yes. The app measures the exact area of a piece of any shape from a photo, so you don't need a perfectly cut circle. You still need a weighing balance. If you already use a GSM cutter, you can enter the weight directly.
